welcome to Dekalim school

The Dekalim School is a school for special education that provides educational and therapeutic services for students ages 6-21 who have been diagnosed on the autistic spectrum together with other disabilities. The central symptom of autism lies in difficulties in interpersonal relationships.

We put great emphasis on developing positive mutual interactions with our students as a base before beginning work. With lots of professionalism, creativity, belief and love we succeed in creating connections and communication with our students.

After we have built a strong base of security and mutuality with our students, we begin to build programs for continued development using a large variety of methods and tools that are specifically adapted for each child with emphasis on:

Independence: independence in self-help skills, independence at home and in the community and independence in the work place.

Communication: speech, PECS (communication through pictures), sign language, and the use of technological devices (Ipad, BigTalk)

Regulation: sensory, emotional and behavior.

We see our school as a "home away from home". Our family includes students, those that are learning with us now and those who learned with us in the past and have graduated. Also part of our family are our teachers, therapists, assistants, national service volunteers, volunteers from the community and, of course, family members of the student. We're really a very large family!
